Acapulco restaurants offering 60-cent tacos for the chain’s 60th anniversary

Acapulco Restaurant y Cantina will sell tacos for 60 cents all day on Thursday, Sept. 24, to mark the Cypress-based chain’s 60th anniversary.

The chain was founded in Pasadena in 1960, but only has a handful of locations remaining in Southern California.

There will be a choice of choice of al pastor, carnitas, grilled chicken, and carne asada tacos, according to a news release. There’s no limit on the deal, according to the chain, but because the tacos are assembled at a taco station they’re not available for takeout.

The promotion will also include happy hour specials 3-8 p.m. and live DJs starting at 5 p.m.

Acapulco is part of Xperience Restaurant Group, whose brands include El Torito Mexican Restaurant. It has four locations in Southern California:

Costa Mesa: 1262 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.

Downey: 9021 E. Firestone Blvd.

Glendale, 722 N. Pacific Ave.

Long Beach: 6270 E. Pacific Coast Highway

The Costa Mesa restaurant has indoor dining at 25% capacity. The others offer patio dining.
